Owens dismisses Cowboys ties years after 2008 exit
Terrell Owens stated he does not concern himself with the Dallas Cowboys and could not care less about the team. The former NFL wide receiver made the comments to the Action Network, adding that the Cowboys have shown no concern for him since his departure. Owens spent three seasons with Dallas from 2006 to 2008.
Dallas released Owens in March 2009, two months after a 9-7 season that missed the playoffs. Reports at the time cited him as a source of locker room tension, including issues with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. Owens signed a three-year contract extension in 2008 but produced his lowest totals in Dallas that year with 1,052 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns over 15 games.
Owens joined the Buffalo Bills in 2009, ending a streak of three straight 1,000-yard seasons there before playing 14 games for the Cincinnati Bengals in his final NFL year of 2010. A five-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler over 16 seasons, he praised Buffalo for ongoing involvement in community events like Thurman Thomas' jersey retirement. Owens skipped his 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton, holding a separate ceremony at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
