Kirkwood Leads Detroit Grand Prix Odds as INDYCAR Leaves Indianapolis
Kyle Kirkwood enters the 2026 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix as the betting favorite, priced at 21/10 at DraftKings Sportsbook as of May 27. The race is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, with a 12:30 p.m. ET start on FOX and FS1. It is the final INDYCAR event of May before the series moves into June.
Kirkwood, who drives the No. 27 Andretti Honda, carries his season form into Detroit. His sole victory of the 2026 campaign came at the Arlington Grand Prix earlier in the year, and he currently sits third in the championship standings. The draft records five top-five finishes and 63 laps led on the season for the American driver. Spanish driver Alex Palou follows Kirkwood on the oddsboard at 13/5, with Christian Lundgaard next at 15/2.
Further down the board, Indy 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist is listed at 20/1. The Swedish driver claimed victory in the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 the previous weekend - only the second IndyCar win of his career and his first on an oval circuit. Rosenqvist acknowledged after the race that parts of the event remained unclear to him. Defending series stalwarts Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden are each priced at 16/1, while five-time series champion Will Power is available at 11/1.
With the Month of May now concluded on track, bettors and fans will watch whether Rosenqvist can carry Indy 500 momentum into the street circuit environment of Detroit, a markedly different challenge from the 2.5-mile oval at Indianapolis. For Kirkwood, a Detroit win would represent his second victory of the season and a potential boost to his championship position heading into June.
