Tigers' Meadows hospitalized after outfield crash with Greene
Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows spent the night in a hospital after colliding with left fielder Riley Greene during Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The crash occurred in the eighth inning at Target Field in Minneapolis on April 9, 2026, when both pursued a shallow fly ball hit by Josh Bell. Meadows, bloodied from the mouth and confirming a concussion, left on a cart for overnight observation.
Greene made the catch as Meadows lay on the ground, their caps flying off in the impact. "It's a terrible feeling. I still feel terrible," Greene said after the 3-1 loss. "He hit my head. I don't know where I hit him, to be honest, but I just really hope he's OK."
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch joined medical staff on the field. "We’re going to get him checked out for everything, but this one worries me," Hinch said.
Meadows had started 11 of Detroit's first 13 games in center field this season. He went 0 for 3 and batted .250 with two extra-base hits entering the game.
