Manziel wins first MMA fight by stoppage in opening round
Johnny Manziel defeated Bob Menery by first-round technical knockout at a Brand Risk Promotions event. The former Texas A&M and Cleveland Browns quarterback landed repeated strikes before the referee intervened with 44 seconds remaining in the round.
Manziel opened with a running knee and followed with kicks to Menery’s back and midsection. After missing a right hand and slipping, he secured a takedown and delivered hammer punches from top position until the stoppage.
Manziel entered the bout with no prior professional MMA record. Menery, a sports media personality, also made his first appearance in the sport and posted afterward that he had retired with an 0-1 record.
The event also featured Supa Hot Fire defeating Ray J by knockout in another bout. No further fights for Manziel have been announced.
